Estriol

Estriol

The placenta converts DHEA-S produced by the fetal adrenals to Estriol and other estrogens. Estriol is useful in assessing the fetal adrenals and placenta during pregnancy. More commonly, Estriol is one of the maternal serum biochemical markers used to screen for common chromosomal trisomies, especially Down syndrome. Experts suggest that abnormal Estriol levels can lead to various disease conditions in the body.
